Horrible Bosses

Movie, 2011, R

Premise - Three best friends all hate their jobs, mostly because they hate their horrible bosses. After years of abuse, they each reach a point when they realize they would be better off if their boss was dead. But how could they possibly get away with murder? Hire a hitman? Make it look like an accident? Murder is already complicated, but it becomes even more difficult to pull off when our three main characters are desperate idiots.

Review - I just had to re-watch this film after seeing Game Night and loving Jason Bateman yet again. This is one of my all-time favorite crazy comedies (not counting the sequel, which I tried watching and could not get myself to finish). It's very weird, dark, twisted, stupid... and I love black comedy. There's an interesting level of social commentary to it as well. It's frightening how they were so trapped in their jobs during the recession that it almost seemed realistic that they HAD to result to murder to solve their problems. It's far easier than finding another job.

The movie is just so clever. The characters are clever - each boss is crazy, terrible in a different way. The premise is clever - I mean, come on, who would have thought about making a movie about killing your boss? But most importantly, the execution was clever - Spoiler alert, things get so twisted that one of the intended victims ends up murdering another one of the intended victims. And there are so many clever scenes and hilarious laugh-out-loud jokes... It's amazing. (94/100)

Quote - "I'd like to bend her over a barrel and show her the fifty states."

If you liked this movie, I'd recommend The Hangover!

What to watch for - There's a lot of great scenes, but the epitome of raunchy American comedy can be summed up by the car chase scene at the end.
